This event will focus on a debrief of the first Africa Urban Forum, held from 4 – 6 September 2024 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with several GIZ implemented projects contributing to the agenda, e.g. RIA, CFF, Gap Fund and ComSSA. It was hosted by the Government of Ethiopia with support from the AU Commission, UN-Habitat, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The AUF included high ranking officials from across the continent as well as local government representatives, development partners, and civil society partners. Over the course of three days, the participants exchanged ideas, shared best practices, and collaborated on sustainable urban development initiatives which formed the basis for the Africa Urban Forum Declaration which points the way forward for sustainable urbanisation for Africa’s transformation. The declaration will feed into the upcoming World Urban Forum, 4 – 8 November 2024, in Cairo, Egypt.
This event will be GIZ-internal. Please contact susanna.albrecht@giz.de for participation requests.
