Heat resilience has become a critical priority for cities across the globe. As rising temperatures threaten communities and urban systems, innovative approaches to cooling, greening, and planning are becoming essential. This is especially relevant for vulnerable communities with limited access to cooling infrastructure and green spaces. This panel discussion will showcase the experience of cities in three different climatic regions (temperate, arid and tropical) on their strategies to mitigate urban heat stress. It will dive into the experiences from risk-informed urban planning (Heidelberg, Germany), heat action planning for public spaces (Aswan, Egypt), to community-led greening in schools (Nairobi, Kenya).
