Urban planner (TU Dortmund, METU Ankara) by profession. He has worked as a freelancer, planning officer in Frankfurt/M., Dresden and Berlin and for GTZ/ GIZ as a planning advisor and program manager in Kathmandu and Damascus. Since 2012 he works as councillor at the Association of German Cities.Â

Amanda is leading HFHI’s 5-year global advocacy campaign, Home Equals, which focuses on increasing equitable access to adequate housing for individuals in informal settlements. She holds a master’s degree in international affairs from The New School in New York City.

Benard Ojwang
Benard Ojwang, Director for Housing and Urban Development at County Government of Kisumu, Kenya
Graduate in Landscape Architecture with a Master’s in Project Planning and Management. A licensed Environmental Impact Assessment expert and AAK member. He works on infrastructure development and urban renewal in Kisumu’s informal settlements and coordinates the Kenya Urban Support Program.
Lars Loebner
Lars Loebner, Head Unit Housing Projects – Outer City Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing, Berlin, Germany
State Architect with senior roles in the planning offices of Regensburg, Leipzig, and Halle (Saale), and consultancy experience in Addis Ababa. Since 2021, he has led major housing projects in Berlin and is a member of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL).
Tapiwa Maruza
Tapiwa Maruza, Coordinating Officer at Namibia Housing Action Group/ National Alliance for Informal Settlement Upgrading (NHAG/ NAISU)
Coordinating Officer at NHAG, supporting the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia. She holds a master’s in architecture from the Namibia University of Science & Technology, pursuing a PhD in Spatial Science. Her work focuses on upgrading informal settlements and low-cost housing solutions.Â
Jack Ngarambe
Jack Ngarambe, Director General of Urbanisation, Housing, and Human Settlement at the Ministry of Infrastructure in Rwanda
Jack Ngarambe is a building physicist with expertise in building science, sustainable urban environments, and affordable, climate-resilient infrastructure. He holds a doctorate in Architectural Engineering from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea.
