The Liveable City of the Future
Cities are key development actors for implementing global agreements, such as the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the goals set by the Paris Agreement.
As an increasing proportion of the world’s population lives in cities, living conditions in cities and interrelations between (peri-)urban areas and their surroundings determine humankind’s quality of life.
Urban centres are the source of solutions for our global challenges. Cities are driving forces for economic development, innovation and social transformation and play a major role in fighting climate change and poverty.
They can promote integration, social inclusion and political engagement. Cities need to be at the forefront to enhance progress and bring about change.
