Climate and employment impacts of sustainable building materials in the context of development cooperation

The study aims to contribute to understanding the impacts of the construction industry on climate change and the relevance of embodied carbon emissions of building materials by providing more detailed information on CO2 reduction potential as well as employment effects of various building materials. The evaluations are presented in form of building material profiles, each of which is underpinned by an applicable example from Development Cooperation (DC) or by examples from the German BMZ partner network on sustainable buildings and construction. Recommendations are given to highlight overarching principles to be considered from stakeholders active in the context.
