Embedding Equity and Inclusivity in Sustainable Infrastructure

Ensuring that sustainable infrastructure projects contribute to reducing social inequalities can be a daunting task for cities. Not considering the needs of marginalised communities or lacking consultation can lead to opposition by local communities – in many cases causing delays to implementation. How effectively communities are represented in project design, planning and implementation will have a direct impact on the quality and sustainability of the projects.

The C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) will offer an overview of its Equity & Inclusion approach, sharing key considerations and components that are essential to designing equitable and inclusive sustainable infrastructure projects. The approach is split into three key pillars – I. Community Engagement, II. Project Design, III. Equitable Benefits. With this webinar, we would like to raise awareness about the significance of embedding E&I in all steps of the preparation of sustainable infrastructure projects and share best practices from CFF projects.
