MOBILISING GREEN URBAN TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE

India and Germany joining forces to raise global ambition and speed up local implementation

Green and sustainable mobility infrastructure is the backbone of climate-friendly and liveable cities. German development cooperation (BMZ) supports its partner countries in the development and expansion of sustainable transport systems with its Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) and bilateral partnerships such as the Indo-German Green Urban Mobility Partnership (GUMP). The session brings government representatives and mobility experts in conversation to identify global approaches of sustainable infrastructure implementation and showcase innovative mobility projects from Indian cities.

Marvin is an expert in electric mobility working on the topic as a Transport Policy Advisor at GIZ. There he supports the improvement of framework conditions for integrated e-mobility solutions in cities under the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).

There she had various positions, working among others in the field of coordination of EU development policy and trade policy.

Stefanie Holzwarth | Programme Management Officer, Urban Mobility, UN Habitat

Stefanie Holzwarth is working in the Urban Mobility team at UN-Habitat. She is trained in urban planning and has been working on sustainable mobility projects for more than 7 years, providing technical advice, knowledge and advocacy to governments around the world.  

Martin Dirr | Programme Director, C40 Cities Finance Facility

Martin Dirr is a passionate urban professional, with experience of over 15 years in international development, mainly for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). In his current role, Martin is the GIZ programme director for the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF).  

Michael Doust | Director, Urban Efficiency & Climate, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, World Ressources Institute (tbc)

Dr. Peter Kurz has served as mayor of Mannheim, Germany since 2007. He has overseen an economic and entrepreneurial transformation in the city, and established Mannheim as a Local Green Deal pilot city. He is Chair of the Global Parliament of Mayors and G7 special envoy of the Association of German Cities.
