Innovate4Climate Conference

Innovate4Climate (I4C) is the World Bank Group's annual global conference on climate finance, carbon markets and investment. In this years seventh edition, I4C 2023, the private and public sectors will gather in Barakaldo, Spain from 23 May to 25 May to discuss innovative climate solutions with a focus on markets, finance, policy and technology.

World Circular Economy Forum 2023

Helsinki, Finland

The annual World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) provides a space for business leaders, policymakers and experts to exchange knowledge and discuss solutions for circular economies. This year, WCEF will focus on the implementation of circular solutions and dive into the potential of circular economies to tackle complex issues like climate change and biodiversity loss. WCEF2023 will take place from 30 May to 2 June in Helsinki and online. It is organized by Nordic Innovation and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra in collaboration with international partners.

Global NDC Conference 2023

Berlin, Germany

From 31 May to 2 June, practitioners and policy makers from more than 40 countries will gather at the Global NDC Conference 2023 in Berlin to discuss and share their experience in feasible and financeable NDCs and NDC implementation. The event is hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and co-organised with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the NDC Partnership, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), under the International Climate Initiative (IKI).

UN Habitat Assembly (Second Session)

Nairobi, Kenya

The second session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly takes place from 5 to 9 June 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya. Representatives from member states, local governments and other relevant stakeholders will gather to discuss topics along the main theme “A sustainable urban future through inclusive and effective multilateralism: achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in times of global crises”.

Bonn Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC)

Bonn, Germany

The Bonn Climate Change Conference is scheduled for 5 to 15 June in Bonn, Germany. In the 58th session of the SB 58 of the UNFCCC, events will follow up on discussions from COP 27 in Egypt last year. The conference is expected to make progress on topics like global stocktake, global goal on adaptation, just transition, loss and damage and the mitigation work programme and prepare draft decisions for adoption at COP 28 / CMP 18 / CMA 5 in the United Arab Emirates.

Daring Cities Dialogues

Bonn, Germany

The fourth edition of Daring Cities will be held from 12 to 13 June in Bonn, Germany. It is a joint effort hosted by ICLEI and the Federal City of Bonn. Representatives of all levels of government will gather to discuss how to empower urban decision-makers in leading the response to the climate emergency and the just transition.

The annual London Climate Action Week (LCAW) will take place from 24 June to 2 July. It aims to facilitate conversations between businesses, politicians, NGOs and civil society about cutting-edge solutions to climate change. LCAWs vision is to create a net-zero, equitable and resilient future by harnessing their power as a leading global climate hub.

High-Level Political Forum 2023

New York, United States

The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will take place from 10 July to 19 July in New York. Following the theme " Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels” the impact and the interconnectedness of various SDGs will be reviewed.

16th Federal Congress on National Urban Development Policy

Jena, Germany

Sharing innovative ideas and positive experiences is vital for integrated urban development policy. The annual Federal Congresses are the central forum for urban development policy in Germany. With a variety of formats, they provide a platform for all stakeholders involved in the processes and issues of urban development policy. Since the very beginning of the  National Urban Development Policy, they have become one of its most important cornerstones. This is where a wide community of experts discusses the contents, objectives and current issues around urban development policy. In addition, new ideas and approaches are presented, using exemplary projects and processes from Germany and abroad. This year’s Federal Congress will take place in the Thuringian city of Jena, in the recently renovated Volkshaus Jena. It is linked with the IBA Thuringia 2023 finale year and explores the diversity of connections between urban and rural, as well as the major transformation challenges that lie ahead – climate change, digitalisation, housing, social participation, and the energy and mobility transition.

Africa Climate Week 2023

Nairobi, Kenya

ACW 2023 will discuss climate solutions ahead of COP28. This year's Africa Climate Week will take place from 4-8 September 2023 in Nairobi, hosted by the government of Kenya. ACW 2023 will be organized in parallel with the Africa Climate Summit on 4-6 September, also hosted by Kenya. The first global stocktake will conclude at COP28 in UAE in December of this year. The stocktake offers a unique opportunity to call for decisive change. It is an opportunity to urgently respond to the need to accelerate progress by collectively embarking on a swift and profound transformation of our economic and social systems. ACW 2023 and all the Regional Climate Weeks provide a platform for policymakers, practitioners, businesses and civil society to exchange on climate solutions, barriers to overcome and opportunities realized in different regions. The Weeks consider four major systems-based tracks with a view to providing region-focused contributions to inform the global stocktake: Energy systems and industry Cities, urban and rural settlements, infrastructure and transport Land, ocean, food and water Societies, health, livelihoods, and economies
